I hope your day has been as awesome as mine! I’ve been running around like crazy since about 4am this morning. I’m completely exhausted, but strangely I don’t mind it. That just means I’ve been working hard and soon I can reward myself with a long nap and a movie (fingers crossed for Sunday). Like I said, I went to work early this morning and trained two of the most kick ass clients ever! The energy they bring to each training session totally amps up my morning and helps me get through my long Tuesdays and Thursdays (4am-8:30pm.. yuck).
After I got off work I had planned on taking a nap, but the weather was just TOO beautiful! I had to get outside and run. 72 degree weather is UNHEARD of in Oklahoma in July. So I went out and ran around a beautiful neighborhood just taking in the the view of the park and the beautiful houses. My pace was a pretty moderate speed for me. I was just enjoying the sun and the weather. I enjoyed it so much I ran more than I was initially planning on. I can feel myself becoming faster and more efficient in my runs. A few months ago 4 miles felt like forever, but recently it feels comfortable. Guess that means it’s time to speed up and increase distance!
Distance: 4.01 mi Time: 37:06.0 Pace: 9:15/mi
After my run I went to my usual Tues/Thurs 12:00 spin class with my favorite ladies at Next Level Fitness! It was a challenge to keep those wheels turning today, but it was a great class! I’m definitely gonna feel that later.
About half way through spin my stomach started rumbling. I only had about 10 minutes to eat before my next session so It had to be something small. Luckily, I had picked up a salad and fruit bowl from Whole Foods after my run. I scarfed down my fruit bowl before training, then I all but inhaled my salad afterward.
Delicious, fresh, and rejuvenating. Just what the doctor ordered!
My salad was a a mix of kale and mixed greens. I added roasted pineapple, radishes, beets, a mix of black beans, chickpeas, and edamame, and a little bit of chicken. To to it off, I added some balsamic vinaigrette. (I ♥ balsamic vinaigrette)
My fruit was equally delicious! The fruit bowl was made with of blueberries, blackberries, red and green grapes, mango (one of my faves), orange, honeydew, and papaya. Turns out, I despise papaya. That was the only low note of the fruit salad.
Now, I’m gonna gear up to teach a group fitness circuit class and I have one last training session tonight. Luckily, these clients are rock stars too! They make it so easy.
Well, tomorrow is the 4th of July and I’m not sure if I’m gonna have a ton of time to dedicate to a post, so here is a workout you can do tomorrow if you’d like! I recommend working out to the lyrical genius of..
Check out my mix on Spotify if you like 🙂
Miley Cyrus: Party in the USA
Katy Perry: Firework
Estelle: American Boy
Madonna: American Pie
Lenny Kravitz: American Woman
Bruce Springsteen: Born in the USA
Demi Lovato: Made in the USA
John Mellencamp: R.O.C.K in the U.S.A
After you finish the workout it is a requirement to sing “Proud to be an American”. Without the song, the workout is useless. Okay, maybe not, but a little American pride was never frowned upon in a gym!
I hope you have a happy 4th!
Thanks for stopping by!
